Working in the community I come into contact with the surgery a lot. The staff are friendly, they always have a gp oncall who can be contacted for advice and normally this is a quick and efficient service. I also know patients at the practice who value the service. Most people come on these sites simply to moan rather than praise. Well done to all the staff.
There are always appointments available at the surgery. I think some people are too picky sometimes and forget we have a great nhs. They staff and doctors have to put up with a lot of aggression from patients. Great surgery.
Having (finally) been referred to a specialist due to an almost complete loss of voice, upon returning from a hospital procedure my wife tried to make an appointment for me to speak with a doctor and follow-up on the specialist's recommendations to increase medication etc. but was only permitted to make a telephone appointment (hard to do with no voice). When doctor called, he basically complained he couldn't hear me and forced me to strain my voice further to explain why I needed to speak with him. Doctor was completely unprepared despite being clear about the reason when making the appointment. The doctor had not even consulted my recent medical notes to familiarise himself with my situation and then bluntly told me to go back and speak to the specialist. Complete waste of time. Great care and service?? absolutely not!
Its not possible to give a review of treatment because its impossible to get an appointment.
You have to ring on the day and wait in a queue - repeat daily until you are actually lucky enough to get an appointment.
This surgery needs to remember that for working people this repeated ringing is not practical or indeed in some jobs not possible.
I feel for the receptionists
Virtually impossible to get an appointment, am constantly told to phone back at 8.30 each morning to see if there is an appointment in 2 weeks. On the one occasion I said I needed an emergency appointment I was asked by the receptionist what my problem was - waht happened to Dr patient confidentiality, why must I explain my condition to the receptionist for them to decide if it is am emergency.
Felt I must provide this review after my experience yesterday, called at 8.30, engaged for 10 mins, kept trying, got through to be put on hold immediately after 5 mins phone started ringing again - back into a queue, another 5 mins phone picked up asked if my name is Lesley, when I said no line went dead.
Minimum 2 weeks wait for an appointment if you can get through.
